As the weather heats up, the kiddos will enjoy more than 20 water activities include slides, games, swimming pools, swimming lessons and safety tips, misters, dunk tanks, bounce houses, water balloon battles, carnival style games, cyber maze water tag and a special area designated just for toddlers and preschool aged children.

“Chandler is known for fostering collaboration and partnerships, and this is an excellent example of a situation in which everyone wins,” said Chandler Mayor, Jay Tibshraeny, “The Arizona Sprints Showcase will bring new people to Chandler and give our businesses the opportunity to show off everything that makes our downtown unique.”

Consumer Engagement Crucial to Health Insurance Rate Reviews

Posted on 05 February 2012 by admin

Health insurance companies in Arizona are pursuing double-digit premium increases for more than 30 insurance health plans in the state, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,

Officials from AARP Arizona are weighing-in with the Arizona Department of Insurance on the transparency of health insurance plan rate reviews.

The department is currently reviewing the process for rate reviews of health insurance plans. AARP believes consumers should have the opportunity to be more engaged in the process.

AARP welcomes the opportunity to work with the Arizona Department of Insurance on this very important issue.” - David Mitchell AARP Arizona State Director

“We are supporting three key points that we hope will be included in the review process,” h announced.

AARP would like to see proposed rate increases posted online for public comment before the rate increases are considered reasonable or unreasonable and that policyholders are notified of potential rate increases before they are classified as such.

We also think it’s important that press releases are issued informing the public of the opportunity to give public comment whenever a significant premium increase for Arizonans is considered by the Department of Insurance,” said Mitchell.

In addition, AARP supports the adoption of an alert system similar to that which the state of Minnesota currently uses.

We believe policyholders should be allowed to enroll in an alert system that automatically indicates when rate hikes are submitted for review by the department,” Mitchell added.

The Arizona Department of Insurance is currently gathering comments from various stakeholder groups on this issue.

AARP strongly supports the opportunity for consumers to be active participants in the insurance market and we applaud the Arizona Department of Insurance for their continued work in this area,” said Mitchell.

The Teacher Preparation Program of Rio Salado College recently received a National Science Foundation Noyce Scholarship Program award of $ 1.2 million to support recruitment and training of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) professionals interested in becoming science or math teachers in Arizona.

The need for inspiring teachers in STEM-related subjects is critical for the future of Arizona’s economy and experienced professionals in these fields have much to offer.” – Dr. Chris Bustamante Rio Salado College president

Rio is honored to be one of the few community colleges in the nation to receive a Noyce grant and be a part of this important initiative,” he added.

The Noyce Scholarship award will fund tuition, textbooks, fees and technical support for four cohorts of 10 participants each over the next four years. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, Arizona resident, have a minimum of three years’ experience in a STEM-related field, a bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline, and commit to teach for two years in a high-need school. Successful Noyce scholar participants will complete a comprehensive 15-month teacher certification program with online course instruction and on-site teaching experiences in conveniently located school districts. Rio will also provide mentoring and professional support to students as they fulfill the required two-year teaching commitment.

This combination of online and in-person instruction and support will provide STEM professionals flexibility in completing the course training and allow the program to recruit Noyce Scholars statewide.” – Janet Johnson Rio education chair

The online program is designed for busy adults who already have a bachelor’s degree and want to become a teacher. PowerVerde Announces Intention to Acquire Cornerstone Conservation Group

Posted on 21 November 2011 by admin

PowerVerde has entered announced entering into a binding letter of intent to acquire Cornerstone Conservation Group.

The acquisition is scheduled to close by December 31, 2011, and the consideration to be provided to CCG’s owners and affiliates consists of 2,260,000 shares of PowerVerde common stock and warrants to purchase 300,000 shares at exercise prices ranging from $ 2.00 – 3.00 per share.

PowerVerde plans to leverage the considerable resources of CCG and its principals into additional vertical markets for waste heat recovery, as well as energy conservation technology.

The CCG team has been instrumental in assisting our efforts to enhance PowerVerde’s waste heat recovery system, a renewable electric generating system called the Liberator. CCG brought specialized knowledge and human resources to the project and truly expedited the Liberator’s introduction into the alternative energy space, while substantially improving its overall performance and reliability. Their proprietary technology is very complementary to PowerVerde’s platform and our existing vertical markets—mainly converting thermal energy into electric power generation.” – PowerVerde CEO Rick Davis

However, with CCG, we believe we can address additional vertical markets and specifically a technology known as Combined Cooling Heating and Power (“CCHP”). CCHP will utilize waste heat from commercial and residential heating, ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) systems. The CCHP market potential is huge, as we believe that millions of existing or new buildings could benefit from an efficient CCHP energy conservation and electric generating system. In addition, CCG’s founding partners, Bryce Johnson and Paul Kelly, have well established industry relationships and distribution channels across North America. These relationships represent the very best organizations in the HVACR industry.”

Cornerstone Conservation Group’s President Bryce Johnson commented, “In the short time we have been working with PowerVerde it has become clear that the combination of PowerVerde and CCG’s intellectual property and proprietary technology will continue to yield disruptive game changing technology, much like the recently introduced Liberator waste heat recovery system. In short order, we have demonstrated these two companies work extremely well together. There is a lot of synergy, and we believe both organizations are well served in combining resources and generating additional revenue streams for PowerVerde and their shareholders.”

Cellbusters Unveil Mobile Device Detector at GovSec West Conference

Posted on 15 November 2011 by admin

Cellbusters, a leader in protecting government, industry and the military worldwide from leaks by mobile devices, will unveil its latest mobile device detector at GovSec West Conference in Phoenix, Arizona fromNov. 15-16.

The protection of government and military secrets and corporate intellectual property is vital for security and survival. A serious breach can have detrimental effects and expose embarrassing security flaws.

The advanced detection device from Cellbusters, called The Zone Protector, provides an urgently needed solution to deal with today’s sophisticated mobile threats.

The older technology in almost all detectors on the market today does not have the quality engineering or accuracy to detect the most recent transmission technologies. As a result, top secret information and intellectual property are at ever-increasing risk of leaks by the unauthorized use of sophisticated mobile devices.

The threats to private information have evolved at an alarming rate, especially over the last few years, leaving many organizations completely exposed, often without knowledge of their vulnerability. Today’s mobile devices can transmit images, video, data, and conversations from inside your organization to external sources — completely undetected by traditional firewalls or security personnel.

Based on feedback from many of its customers, Cellbusters developed a system that can accurately pinpoint the exact frequency of the transmission, designate its transmission type, and report the information, along with other detailed data, to Cellbusters Zone Manager Software.

The Zone Protector is one of the most versatile devices on the market. It can be operated as a portable device or connected to the network for centralized alerting, reporting and management.

The research and development team at Cellbusters worked over the last 24 months to develop this next generation of mobile device detection and monitoring technology. The system is made up of The Zone Protector™ and Zone Manager™ products, which have been developed as part of the company’s Active Monitoring Technology™ concept and design.

Active Monitoring Technology utilizes a microprocessor-based switching technology at its core, so it can accurately detect signals from all cell phone carriers, without the usual level of false alarms. Data encryption, high availability, tamper-proofing and centralized management reporting are also central to the design.
